Having applied the tools of science, education and conservation to become leaders in conversation communities, graduate students in the Global Field Program (GFP) and Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly finish their master's studies.

Miami graduate students from Project Dragonfly have been invited to present as featured speakers at the 15th Annual World Community Conference at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden Dec. 15, 2018. Sponsored by the zoo and Miami University's Project Dragonfly, the conference showcases the work of students who have conducted inquiry projects in communities across the U.S. and at key conservation sites around the world.

Miami kinesiology and health students Jared Bottger, Sarah Brown, and Taylor Roof received the first place trophy at the Midwest Chapter of American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Quiz Bowl Championship held in Grand Rapids, MI, on November 9th. The team, selected by the kinesiology faculty members, competed against approximately 20 other college teams in a Jeopardy-style tournament on physiology and sport medicine topics. On top of the trophy, the Miami team also won a paid trip to the ACSM national conference to represent the region in late May. In addition to the competition, 40 Miami students, both undergraduate and graduate, attended the conference with most presenting their research through oral or poster presentations. Miami University welcomes students to begin their college career in Fall 2018

The Ohio Council for the Social Studies announce Maria Kahn's selection as a 2018 Jim Sheehan Award Winner. Kahn was strongly recommended by her Miami social studies methods professor. The Dr. James Sheehan Pre-Service Social Studies Teacher Award Winner was established in memory of OCSS Executive Director, Jim Sheehan, who promoted undergraduate participation in the professional organization. This award honors outstanding social studies university students that have demonstrated excellence in teaching and have great potential in the social studies classroom. As a recipient of the award Kahn receives a complimentary one year's membership in OCSS, an award certificate, and recognition at the Awards Luncheon at the 2018 Annual Conference on Tuesday, October 16th. Miami University graduate students are the recipients of scholarships through Audubon Miami Valley (AMV), the Department of Biology and Project Dragonfly, a global conservation and education initiative at the university.

In June and July 2018, graduate students from Miami University's Project Dragonfly will travel to Africa, Asia, Australia and the Americas to engage in action projects on vital human and ecological issues.

Miami University students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2017-18 have been named to the president's list recognizing academic excellence.

Miami University Students Study Abroad Spring 2018 Semester

Graduate students from Miami University's Project Dragonfly recently traveled to the Amazon, Baja, Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Guyana, Galapagos, Mongolia and Namibia, where they engaged in action projects on vital human and ecological issues.

Three Project Dragonfly master's students have been awarded the Summer Credit Workshop Study Abroad Scholarship from Miami University's Global Initiatives to travel on summer 2018 courses to Kenya, the Galapagos and Australia.

Miami University's Project Dragonfly has admitted a new cohort of students to its global master's degree, the Global Field Program (GFP). These graduate students, who live throughout the United States and abroad, combine collaborative work in Dragonfly's web-based learning communities with work at conservation sites in Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas.

Miami University's Project Dragonfly has admitted a new cohort of students to its Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP). The AIP combines web-based graduate coursework through Miami University with face-to-face experiential learning at some of the nation's premiere community learning institutions.

Miami University Regionals recognize 35 students for their exemplary service to the community. Students achieve Service Honor Roll by successful completion of service hours to a local non-profit organization during an academic semester. Service Honor Roll recipients fall into the following categories: Bronze: 25 - 49 hours of community service, Silver: 50 - 74 hours of community service, Gold: 75-99 hours of community service and Platinum: 100+ hours of community service.

Tori Swipas was selected as a recipient of an undergraduate scholarship by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) for the 2018-2019 academic year. Ms. Swipas is one of fifty-seven undergraduate athletic training students across the country to receive the national award.

Miami University awarded degrees to students during fall commencement exercises Friday December 15, 2017, at Millett Hall.

Five Miami University Regionals students have earned the 2017 President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) for their community service work. The PVSA recognizes individuals who have contributed a certain number of hours to the community through service over a 12-month period. The award was created as a way to honor those who are involved and who inspire others to become active in their communities. Levels include bronze, silver, gold and the highest honor, the President's Lifetime Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime.

Miami University graduate David Coulter has published original work. Coulter earned his Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) master's degree through web-based courses from Miami University while also participating in experiential learning and field study at Chicago's Brookfield Zoo.
