Graduate students in the Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly have been awarded a Community Engagement badge from the university for making a difference in human and ecological communities. As part of the GFP, students apply the tools of conservation science and advance the tenets central to the master's degree: inquiry, community and voice.

Tomorrow, four Miami master's students from Project Dragonfly will present as invited featured speakers at the 10th Annual World Community Conference at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. The Conference, sponsored by the Zoo and Miami University's Project Dragonfly, will showcase the work of formal and informal educators who have conducted inquiry projects at key conservation sites around the world and in classrooms throughout the country.

Four Miami University Students Receive Benjamin a. Gilman International Scholarships
The nationally competitive Gilman scholarships are awarded twice a year.
Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program is designed to help undergraduates with financial need study abroad. The program also aims to support students seeking unique opportunities in nontraditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and students with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
"The Gilman selection panels are looking to award the scholarships to nontraditional students who are pursuing nontraditional programs," explains Karla Guinigundo, Miami's grant coordinator in the office of international education.
