Five Miami University graduate students are the recipients of scholarships through Project Dragonfly, a global conservation and education initiative at the university. Four Miami University Students Receive Benjamin a. Gilman International Scholarships
The nationally competitive Gilman scholarships are awarded twice a year.
Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program is designed to help undergraduates with financial need study abroad. The program also aims to support students seeking unique opportunities in nontraditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and students with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
"The Gilman selection panels are looking to award the scholarships to nontraditional students who are pursuing nontraditional programs," explains Karla Guinigundo, Miami's grant coordinator in the office of international education.

Three Miami Students Receive Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships
Three Miami University seniors have been awarded 2013-2014 http://us.fulbrightonline.org/application-components/eta Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships. Miami seniors or recent graduates have won Fulbright awards to research or teach overseas 13 of the last 14 years.
Fulbright http://us.fulbrightonline.org/eta-program-charts English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) places a Fulbrighter in a classroom abroad to provide assistance to teachers of English to non-native English-speakers. English Teaching Assistants help teach English language while serving as a cultural ambassador for U.S. culture.

Miami University Forensics Team Wins Third Straight National Title
Miami University's forensics team won the national championship for the third year at the 31st. annual Novice National Tournament, reserved for first year competitors. Twenty-four Miami students bested 17 other schools, including the University of Alabama, the University of Florida and Louisiana State University.

Local Miami Students Place In Ohio Forensics Association's State Championship
The Miami University forensics team finished first overall at the competition held in February at Marietta College.
Miami was crowned champion of the debate division as well as the individual events division, claiming 34 of the 78 awards offered at the tournament. Additionally, the team had members advance to the finals of every event offered.
The team won first place in dramatic interpretation, prose interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, Lincoln-Douglas debate and parliamentary debate.
