This prestigious award is presented to students in the paper science and engineering curriculum in recognition of their leadership, creativity, and academic achievements.

Thirteen students received the 2013 Provost's Student Academic Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to Miami University's intellectual environment.

Five Miami University graduate students are the recipients of scholarships through Project Dragonfly, a global conservation and education initiative at the university. Project Dragonfly has awarded more than $4,600 in Thomas K. Wilson-W. Hardy Eshbaugh and Jose I. Pareja-Wendy P. Tori scholarships since 2011.

Miami University awarded 3,678 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11 at Yager Stadium. The nationally competitive Gilman scholarships are awarded twice a year. Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program is designed to help undergraduates with financial need study abroad. The program also aims to support students seeking unique opportunities in nontraditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and students with diverse ethnic backgrounds. "The Gilman selection panels are looking to award the scholarships to nontraditional students who are pursuing nontraditional programs," explains Karla Guinigundo, Miami's grant coordinator in the office of international education.
