In December, Miami University will welcome graduates from the Global Field Program as some of its newest alumni. The Global Field Program from Miami's Project Dragonfly brings together master's degree candidates, scientists, educators and community leaders at critical conservation field sites across the globe and at select zoos nationally for firsthand experience with inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship and global understanding.

This prestigious award is presented to students in the paper science and engineering curriculum in recognition of their leadership, creativity, and academic achievements.

Thirteen students received the 2013 Provost's Student Academic Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to Miami University's intellectual environment.

Five Miami University graduate students are the recipients of scholarships through Project Dragonfly, a global conservation and education initiative at the university. Project Dragonfly has awarded more than $4,600 in Thomas K. Wilson-W. Hardy Eshbaugh and Jose I. Pareja-Wendy P. Tori scholarships since 2011.

Miami University awarded 3,678 degrees to students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11 at Yager Stadium. Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio, offering more than 100 degree programs in humanities, science, engineering, business, education and fine arts. The nationally competitive Gilman scholarships are awarded twice a year. Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program is designed to help undergraduates with financial need study abroad. The program also aims to support students seeking unique opportunities in nontraditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and students with diverse ethnic backgrounds. "The Gilman selection panels are looking to award the scholarships to nontraditional students who are pursuing nontraditional programs," explains Karla Guinigundo, Miami's grant coordinator in the office of international education. Miami University's forensics team won the national championship for the third year at the 31st. annual Novice National Tournament, reserved for first year competitors. Twenty-four Miami students bested 17 other schools, including the University of Alabama, the University of Florida and Louisiana State University. Local students top results are:

Miami University awarded 934 degrees to students during fall commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 14, 2011, in Millett Hall. The Miami University forensics team finished first overall at the competition held in February at Marietta College. Miami was crowned champion of the debate division as well as the individual events division, claiming 34 of the 78 awards offered at the tournament. Additionally, the team had members advance to the finals of every event offered. The team won first place in dramatic interpretation, prose interpretation, extemporaneous speaking, Lincoln-Douglas debate and parliamentary debate.
