Miami University's Project Dragonfly has admitted a new cohort of students who live throughout the United States and abroad to its global master's degree program. The Global Field Program (GFP) combines collaborative work in Dragonfly's web-based learning communities with work at conservation sites in Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas.

In May, students from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle will graduate with master's degrees from Project Dragonfly's Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) at Miami University. The AIP combines coursework at U.S. partner institutions with collaborative work in Dragonfly's web-based learning communities. This month's graduates have studied at the Chicago Zoological Society-Brookfield Zoo, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Woodland Park Zoo (Seattle).

The nationally competitive Gilman scholarships are awarded twice a year. Now in its 13th year, the scholarship program is designed to help undergraduates with financial need study abroad. The program also aims to support students seeking unique opportunities in nontraditional countries, especially those outside of Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and students with diverse ethnic backgrounds. "The Gilman selection panels are looking to award the scholarships to nontraditional students who are pursuing nontraditional programs," explains Karla Guinigundo, Miami's grant coordinator in the office of international education.
