Mackenzie found a passion for public advocacy work during her internship with Miami University's Civic Summer Fellows program, where she worked for Honesty for Education, a non-profit advocacy group in Ohio. Mackenzie worked with Dr. Kathleen Knight-Abowitz, Department of Educational Leadership, during the spring 2026 semester to research, write, and find a publication outlet for her work.
