A Miami University senior in the Department of Architecture + Interior Design at Miami University has been named to the Metropolis Future 100 list of the top architecture and interior design graduates of the class of 2022. Started in 2021 by Metropolis magazine, the list recognizes 50 architecture and 50 interior design students nominated by their instructors and mentors for their outstanding leadership, design, and advocacy for equity and inclusion.

Miami University juniors Evan Danielson and Zoe Platow have each received a Goldwater Scholarship for 2022-2023. They are among 417 students nationwide to receive the scholarship, the premier undergraduate award for students intending a research career in mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering. Danielson is a Chemical Engineering and Music Performance double major from Oxford, Ohio. Platow is a Biochemistry and Psychology double major and neuroscience co-major from Harleysville, Pennsylvania. They are both involved in undergraduate research at Miami.

Artwork created by students from Miami University Regionals has been selected to be displayed on electrical boxes throughout Middletown as part of the Perk-Up Middletown project. The public art project, which is sponsored by the City of Middletown, the Rotary Club of Middletown, the Middletown Arts Center and Miami University Regionals Middletown Campus, is intended to create pride in the visual aesthetics of the downtown area while showing that Middletown is a vibrant and exciting destination for visitors and residents alike.

Graduate students from Miami University's Project Dragonfly engage with conservationists from around the world in action projects on vital human and ecological issues through a new online course titled "Earth Expeditions: Connected Conservation (EECC)." Miami's Dragonfly team developed the course in response to the global health crisis and as an alternative to Dragonfly's summer Earth Expeditions travel field courses.

Miami Students Awarded NSF Graduate Research Fellowships
Miami University doctoral students have been awarded fellowships from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). They are three of 2,000 students nationwide, out of more than 12,000 who applied, to receive the prestigious award. The fellowship recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It provides three years of support with a $34,000 annual stipend and a $12,000 cost-of-education allowance, among other benefits.

Miami students receive EPA funding for research
Two Miami University student research teams have been selected to receive funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to continue research in their desired fields. The funding is provided through the EPA's People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) grants program. The P3 program awards student teams up to $15,000 each to fund their proposed research projects, each to fund the proof of concept for their projects. "EPA's P3 grants program supports the next generation of scientists and engineers," said Andrew Wheeler, EPA administrator. "These students are able to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it to real-world environmental problems that require innovative solutions."These P3 Phase 1 awardees can attend the TechConnect World Innovation Conference and Exposition in Boston, Massachusetts, June 17-18, 2019 to showcase their research. Then they can apply for a Phase II grant, which provides funding up to $100,000 to further their product designs.
