Trevor Cook wins Gilman Scholarship for study abroad

Seven Miami University students received the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad. The students have been awarded a collective total of $29,000. The scholarship program aims to diversify the kinds of students who study abroad by supporting U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving federal Pell Grant funding; the program also aims to diversify the countries and regions where students go to study.
Trevor Cook a junior East Asian Languages and Culture, International Studies major from Cincinnati, OH., 45233, will study abroad in China with the CET Intensive Chinese Language in Bejing Program during the 2012 fall semester.
This year, the Gilman International Scholarship Program received more than 2,600 applications for 500 summer awards and more than 2,500 applications for 1,200 fall and academic year awards.
