Susan Kemme fosters community change through collaborative leadership endeavor

Lawrenceburg, Ind. (47025) resident Susan Kemme, a graduate student in the Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly, was awarded a Leadership badge from the university for demonstrating collaborative leadership skills that have helped bring about positive change in her community.

Through her Leadership in Science Inquiry course project entitled "A Creative Collaboration with Oxbow, Inc.: Effectiveness of Promoting Wetland Conservation Through Art," Kemme created a presentation piece to promote conservation of the Oxbow wetlands in Lawrenceburg, Ind., in order to engage local community and initiate interest or action. Kemme is an English teacher at Hughes STEM.

The GFP master's degree is designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings who are interested in inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship and global understanding.
