2017 Jan 19

St. Petersburg, Fla., resident Sean Nordquist has earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree from Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program (GFP).

Since being accepted to the GFP master's degree in 2014, Nordquist has explored conservation and education in Belize, Costa Rica and Hawai'i, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the St. Petersburg area. Nordquist works for Hillsborough Community College.

The global courses, which count toward the GFP master's or can be taken for stand-alone graduate credit, are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Because the degree occurs overseas and in web-based learning communities, applicants can be located anywhere in the United States or abroad.

Project Dragonfly reaches millions of people each year through inquiry-driven learning media, public exhibits and graduate programs worldwide. Dragonfly is based in the department of biology at Miami University, a state university in Oxford, Ohio. Miami was established in 1809 and is listed as one of the eight original Public Ivies.

The GFP is accepting applications for the 2017 cohort until Jan. 28, 2017, at http://GFP.MiamiOH.edu.
