Rachael Rost invited to present at 13th Annual World Community Conference sponsored by the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden and Miami's Project Dragonfly

Rachael Rost of Lawrence, Kan., will present "Involving Local Communities in the Citizen Science of Monarch Butterflies" as an invited featured speaker at the 13th Annual World Community Conference at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden on Dec. 17, 2016.

Sponsored by the zoo and Miami University's Project Dragonfly, the conference will showcase the work of Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP), Earth Expeditions (EE), and Global Field Program (GFP) graduate students who have conducted semester-long projects at key conservation sites around the world and through face-to-face experiential and field study at AIP Master Institutions.

As a student in the GFP master's degree, Rost explores conservation and education in Belize, Kenay and Costa Rica, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the Lawrence area. Rost, an education specialist for the Topeka Zoological Park, will graduate Dec. 16, 2016, with a Master of Arts degree in Zoology from Miami University.

Project Dragonfly reaches millions of people each year through inquiry-driven learning media, public exhibits and graduate programs worldwide. Dragonfly is based in the Department of Biology at Miami University, a state university in Oxford, Ohio. Miami was established in 1809 and is listed as one of the eight original Public Ivies.

Applications are being accepted through January 28 for the GFP's 2017 master's cohort and through February 28 for the AIP's 2017 master's cohort.
