2015 Apr 6

Oxford, Ohio resident Andrea Ballinger was awarded the Summer Credit Workshop Study Abroad Scholarship from Miami University's Global Initiatives office to help fund travel on a summer 2015 Earth Expeditions course. Ballinger, an environmental management contractor and a Miami master's student in the Global Field Program, will travel to India in summer 2015 to study the stunning ecological, cultural and spiritual landscapes of the Western Ghats, where the fates of people, wildlife and deities meet in sacred groves and forest temples.

Since the program began 10 years ago, Earth Expeditions graduate courses from Miami University's Project Dragonfly have engaged more than 1,700 people in firsthand educational and scientific research at key conservation field sites in Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas.

Miami's Global Initiatives office supports the university's global teaching, outreach and research missions. Global Initiatives supports and encourages Miami's commitment to dynamic and comprehensive internationalization, resulting in a diverse cultural and global learning experience for students.
