Michelle Sigler from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

Tinley Park, Ill. resident Michelle Sigler from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original work entitled "The Effects of Plastic Pollution on Aquatic Wildlife: Current Situations and Future Solutions." In her article, Sigler addressed the effects of plastic pollution on aquatic wildlife and describes several cutting edge technologies that have been piloted to recycle the plastics back into oil . The article appeared in Water, Air and Soil Pollution, which publishes original work about all aspects of pollution and solutions to pollution in the biosphere.

Sigler, a science teacher at Columbia Central, is a current master's student at Miami University. As a student in the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP), Sigler takes courses onsite at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago while sharing ideas with peers and instructors nationwide via web-based learning communities.

The community-based AIP master's degree is co-delivered by Miami's Dragonfly and Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited premier learning institutions in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, New York, Phoenix, San Diego and Seattle.
