Michelle Amato fosters community change through collaborative leadership endeavor

Wake Forest, N.C. (27587) resident Michelle Amato, a graduate student in the Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly, was awarded a Leadership badge from the university for demonstrating collaborative leadership skills that have helped bring about positive change in her community.

Through her Leadership in Science Inquiry course project entitled "The Growth of Leadership Through Student Leading," Amato served as a Student Leader in collaboration with the Lead Instructor of the Conservation, Science, and Community Course, analyzing Student Leader effectiveness through evaluations and feedback from course participants. Amato is a science teacher at East Wake Middle School.

The GFP master's degree is designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings who are interested in inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship and global understanding.
