Miami University Student Robert Smayda Spends Spring Break Sharing Research with Legislators

Robert Smayda, a sophomore majoring in computer science at Miami University, is spending part of his spring break, March 5-9, sharing his research with national legislators in Washington, DC.

Smayda, of Lakeview, OH (43331), is one of 12 students representing Miami University's Office for the Advancement of Research and Scholarship at a "Posters on the Hill" event. Smayda will give a poster presentation on "Android Augmented Reality Disaster Relief."

During the day, Smayda will spend his time in Capital Hill office visits and in the evening the students will present their posters to federal funding agencies and to congressional staff and delegates.

Smayda is mentored by Gerald Gannod, professor of computer science and director of Miami's Mobile Learning Center, and Robert Williams, research director, SATE: Air Force Research Laboratory.
