Miami University Student John Wilber Receives Undergraduate Research Award

John Wilber, a zoology major from Chagrin Falls, OH (44022), is the recipient of a Spring 2012 Undergraduate Research Award from Miami University.

The award provides support for student research and creative projects. Wilbur worked with fellow students Tara Fallah and Chris Lakis, with Joyce Fernandes, professor of zoology* on the project Genetic Manipulations of the Glial Sheath that Surrounds Peripheral Nerves in Drosophila.

The Undergraduate Research Award (URA) program is sponsored by Miami's office for the advancement of research and scholarship. It provides support for student research and creative projects, and provides experience in developing grant applications. Typical awards range from $150 to $500, but individual or group projects of exceptional merit may be funded up to $1,000.
