Miami University Student Derek Hoodin Honored at Competition

Miami University student Derek Hoodin was recognized at an annual undergraduate economics paper competition in April. The competition was hosted by Bowling Green.

Hoodin's paper, "Reinvesting in Quality or Stuffing Shareholders' Pockets: How Does Providing Care to More Post-Acute Care Patients Impact Quality and Profitability of Nursing Homes?" won first place.

Considered one of eight original "Public Ivies" in the country, Miami University is located in Oxford, Ohio. The university is consistently ranked by U.S. News and World Report for its commitment to undergraduate teaching and is the number one college town according to Forbes.

Hoodin is earning a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics.
