Miami University Student Alex Zerby Part of National Forensics Championship Team

Miami University's forensics team won the national championship for the third year at the 31st. annual Novice National Tournament, reserved for first year competitors. Twenty-four Miami students bested 17 other schools, including the University of Alabama, the University of Florida and Louisiana State University.

Alex Zerby of Findlay, OH. 45840, a sophomore chemistry major placed 1st. In Duo Interpretation with partner Hannah Ross.

Miami won 19 awards at the tournament and advanced 14 of the 24 students to the final round. Individual successes for students included first place in Lincoln-Douglas Debate (undefeated), impromptu speaking, impromptu sales speaking and parliamentary debate.
