Miami University RedHawk Carson Meyer Drafted by Hometown Team in Sixth Round

Miami University RedHawk Carson Meyer was selected by his hometown team, the Columbus Blue Jackets, in the sixth round (179th overall) of the National Hockey League's First-Year Player Draft.

He is the 28th RedHawk to hear his name at the NHL draft since 2001.

Meyer is earning a B.S. in Kinesiology & Health majoring in Sport Leadership & Management.

Miami University student-athletes finished the spring 2017 semester with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.31, the second highest GPA ever for a single semester. Overall, nearly 67 percent of the RedHawks finished with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 40 of those student-athletes recorded a 4.0 GPA.
