2016 Nov 16
Miami University hockey player Kiefer Sherwood has been named to the National Collegiate Hockey Conference's (NCHC) Academic All-Conference team. He is one of seven RedHawks to receive the honor, which sets a program-high.
The NCHC Academic All-Conference honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have completed a full academic year.
Sherwood, from New Albany, is majoring in University Studies.
Miami University student-athletes finished the spring 2016 semester with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.21, the highest GPA ever for a single semester. Overall, nearly 40 percent (189 of 490) of the RedHawks finished with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and 38 of those student-athletes recorded a 4.0 GPA.
