Miami Student Amelia Strickland Named Second-Team All-America

For the second time this calendar year, Miami University junior Amelia Strickland represented the RedHawk track and field program on the national stage.

Strickland competed in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships taking 12th in the shot put with a throw of 54-0. That mark was posted on her third and final throw of the evening. That finish is a three-spot improvement from her 15th-place performance at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March. It also earns her Second-Team All-America honors.

The national meet concludes the RedHawks' 2014-15 campaign and an impressive one for Strickland. She broke Miami's indoor and outdoor shot put records and represented the Red and White at both national meets this season. She will look to continue rewriting MU history in her 2015-16 senior campaign.

Strickland is from Bay Village. She's majoring in Microbiology.
