Melany Sutherland from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

Lenexa, Kan., resident Melany Sutherland from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original article titled "Conservation education in schools: Aligning teachers' perceptions with students' attitudes" in Applied Environmental Education & Communication, a scholarly journal that presents the latest developments in the fields of environmental social marketing, environmental journalism, environmental education, sustainability education, environmental interpretation and environmental health communication.

Sutherland, a registered veterinary technician at Winchester Place PetCare Center, is a graduate of Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program. As a student in the GFP, Sutherland traveled to Baja, Borneo and Namibia, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the Lenexa area.

The GFP master's degree and Earth Expeditions courses are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
