Megan Menker from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

Columbus, Ohio, resident Megan Menker from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original article titled "Plotting Plants: Tracking Invasive Species in the Local Community" in Science Scope.

In the article, Menker described how she involved her middle school students in tracking invasive species in the local community through the use of research, geocaching technology, posters, presentations and out-of-class activities. Science Scope is a peer-reviewed publication for middle level and junior high school science teachers from the National Science Teachers Association.

Menker, a teacher at South Vienna Middle School, is a graduate of Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program (GFP). As a student in the GFP, Menker traveled to Baja, Guyana and Thailand.

The Global Field Program master's degree and Earth Expeditions courses are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
