Mark Castator fosters community change through collaborative leadership endeavor

Terrace Park, Ohio (45174) resident Mark Castator, a graduate student in the Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly, was awarded a Leadership badge from the university for demonstrating collaborative leadership skills that have helped bring about positive change in his community.

Through his Leadership in Science Inquiry course project entitled "Utilizing the Golden Rule in an American Chestnut Restoration Project in Cincinnati," Castator assisted local institutions in establishing breeding plots for the restoration planting of American chestnut seedlings. Castator is an urban forester at Terrace Park Village.

The GFP master's degree is designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings who are interested in inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship and global understanding.
