Lindsey Berning of Cincinnati (45103) is one of eight students to receive the 2014 Bob and Barbara Williams Leadership Scholarship through The Paper Science and Engineering Foundation at Miami University. Berning is majoring in chemical engineering with a minor in paper science.

This prestigious award is presented to students in the paper science and engineering curriculum in recognition of their leadership, creativity, and academic achievements. Recipients were selected by a committee of engineering faculty and Paper Science and Engineering Foundation staff. Winners received a $13,000 full tuition scholarship thanks to the generosity of The Bob and Barbara Williams Foundation.

Lindsey, daughter of Mark and Francie Berning, is a senior majoring in Chemical Engineering with a Paper Science Minor. This past summer she interned with Domtar Paper Company in Kingsport, Tennessee in the fiberline area. She assisted with bleach plant optimization, along with various safety projects. The previous summer she interned at U.S. Playing Card Company in Erlanger, Kentucky in Research and Development, Lindsay is the Vice President of Student TAPPI (Technical Association of Pulp & Paper Industries) and has many leadership positions in her church. She will graduate in May 2015 and will be working for Domtar Paper as an associate engineer.
