2015 Jun 3

Mason, Ohio, resident Lauren Asquith has been awarded the AMV Rosie Bloom Scholarship of $500 from Audubon Miami Valley in collaboration with Miami University's Project Dragonfly.

Asquith, who was accepted into the Global Field Program (GFP) in 2014, has studied conservation research on the Baja peninsula as part of Project Dragonfly's Earth Expeditions programs. This summer Asquith will study Borneo’s primate denizens, including the orangutan, and develop new ways to engage communities worldwide in primate conservation. Asquith is an education specialist at Five Rivers MetroParks.

Audubon Miami Valley, in collaboration with Miami's Project Dragonfly, has awarded 18 partial scholarships since 2009.

About the Scholarship

The AMV Rosie Bloom Scholarship, named for local Audubon Society charter member and nature advocate Rosie Bloom, supports local educators who advocate environmental stewardship and global understanding. The AMV has been a local chapter of the National Audubon Society in Butler and Preble counties since 1976. AMV works to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.
