Kathryn McQueen from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

2016 Apr 14

Butler, Ohio, resident Kathryn McQueen from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original article titled "Planktonic ingress of fiddler crab megalopae to the Newport River Estuary, NC: evidence for semilunar periodicity in Uca pugnax and species-specific sampling bias by hog's hair larval collectors" in Marine Ecology.

In the article, McQueen described how she sampled the settlement of fiddler crab megalopae onto hog's hair collectors. Marine Ecology is which publishes original contributions on the structure and dynamics of marine benthic and pelagic ecosystems, and on the critical links between ecology and evolution of marine organisms.

McQueen, a naturalist with Five Rivers MetroParks, is a graduate of Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program (GFP). As a student in the GFP, McQueen traveled to Baja, Australia and Costa Rica.

The Global Field Program master's degree and Earth Expeditions courses are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
