Jed Hewitt from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

Statesboro, Ga., resident Jed Hewitt from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original article titled "Black Creek Scout Reservation BioBlitz: A Vascular Plant Species Inventory" in Tipularia, a full-color botanical journal published by the Georgia Botanical Society.

In the article Hewitt explores and inventories the botanical biodiversity of the Boy Scouts of America's Black Creek camp.

Hewitt, district executive for the Boy Scouts of America, is a graduate of Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program (GFP). As a student in the GFP, Hewitt traveled to Baja, Costa Rica and Guyana, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the Statesboro area.

The GFP master's degree and Earth Expeditions courses are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
