Evan Bader Named Capitol One Academic All-American

Miami University junior Evan Bader has earned a Capital One Academic All-American honor from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was named Third- Team Men's At-Large Academic All- American.

Bader of Oxford is the first Miami swimmer ever to earn the honor.

He is just the fourth Miamian to earn Academic All-America At-Large recognition, becoming the first since 2004. The men's at-large team is comprised of student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling. He is the 36th Miami University student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America plaudits and the second this year.

Bader, a breaststroke and individual medley specialist for the RedHawks, owns a 3.99 grade-point average and is a double major in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry.

He is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and has twice been named the MAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week during his three-year career. He was tabbed a First-Team Capital One Academic All-District 5 Men's At-Large selection in May, which placed him on the Academic All-America ballot. Bader is a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Fraternity.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
