Cincinnati, Ohio, resident Megan Fox receives master's degree from Miami University through Project Dragonfly

Cincinnati, Ohio, resident Megan Fox will graduate with a Master of Arts in Zoology from Miami University on Dec. 12, 2014, from Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Fox works as an animal handler, trainer, and informal educator as part of the Wild Encounters Team at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden.

The Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly brings together master's degree candidates, scientists, educators and community leaders at key conservation sites across the globe for firsthand experience with inquiry-driven education, environmental stewardship and global understanding.

Since joining the master's program in 2012, Fox has explored conservation and education in Belize, Mongolia and Namibia, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the Cincinnati area.

The global courses, which count toward the GFP master's or can be taken for graduate credit, are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Project Dragonfly reaches millions of people each year through inquiry-driven learning media, public exhibits and graduate programs worldwide. Since 2004 Dragonfly's Earth Expeditions program has engaged more than 1,700 people in firsthand educational and scientific research at critical conservation field sites in Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas. Dragonfly is based in the Department of Biology at Miami University, a state university in Oxford, Ohio. Miami was established in 1809 and is listed as one of the eight original Public Ivies.
