Chicago, Ill. resident Peggy Deichstetter to study in Australia

Chicago, Ill. (60185) resident Peggy Deichstetter, a master's student in the Global Field Program (GFP) from Miami University's Project Dragonfly, will travel to Australia in summer 2014 to study the ecology of the Great Barrier Reef.

As a student in the master's program, Deichstetter has also traveled to Baja to study field methods in desert and marine ecosystems. Deichstetter has traveled to Mongolia to study steppe ecology and civic media. Deichstetter is senior faculty at Common Core Institute.

Since the program began 10 years ago, Earth Expeditions graduate courses from Miami University's Project Dragonfly have engaged more than 1,500 people in firsthand educational and scientific research at critical conservation field sites in Africa, Australia, Asia and the Americas.
