Caroline Ritchey from Miami University's Project Dragonfly publishes original work

Hickory, N.C., resident Caroline Ritchey from Miami University's Project Dragonfly has published an original article titled "Hardwood Reduction Methods in Moody Forest Natural Area" in The Longleaf Leader, a quarterly magazine of The Longleaf Alliance.

In the article Ritchey examines treatments for reducing hardwoods in the midstory at the Moody Forest preserve

Ritchey, an animal care specialist at Catawba Science Center, is a graduate of Miami University through Project Dragonfly's Global Field Program (GFP). As a student in the GFP, Ritchey has traveled to Belize, Mongolia and Guyana, while also conducting projects that have made a difference in the Hickory area.

The GFP master's degree and Earth Expeditions courses are designed for educators and other professionals from all disciplines and settings interested in making a difference in human and ecological communities. Applicants can be from anywhere in the United States or abroad.
