Briana Deer Wins Miami University's President's Distinguished Service Award

Miami University student Briana Deer was one of 17 seniors to win this year's President's Distinguished Service Award.

The awards are presented each year to graduating seniors for their contributions to campus, the greater community and to higher education.

During her time at Miami, Deer practiced activism through protest for her social justice class, attended LeaderShape and served as an officer for both Oxfam America and MEDLIFE. She also served the global community, doing humanitarian work in Central and South America and Africa. Deer was nominated by C. Lee Harrington and Sarah Meaney.

The winners are also awarded the Senior Service Leadership Award and wear a special medallion at commencement.

Deer, from McMurray, is earning a Bachelor of Science majoring in Zoology, Premedical Studies.
