Ashley Gierzak Receives a Second-Year Award from Miami University

Recently, 13 second-year students were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the Miami University community.

Ashley Gierzak, an arts and science, undeclared major, from Franklin, OH 45005 has received a Second-Year Award from Miami University.

Students were nominated by student affairs staff as well as faculty on each of the Miami University campuses. Students were recognized for their outstanding contributions in the way of their commitment to academic research as well as assuming leadership positions in many student groups on campus.

Winners were recognized at a ceremony hosted by Second Year Programs, and were able to meet President Hodge and Provost Gempesaw. The ceremony was also highlighted with a keynote speech by Dr. Molly Schaller, from the University of Dayton, who is a leading researcher on issues of second-year student development.
